Has anyone had this problem? Running Composer V3.00 and trying to control the deck (Sony 1500 AP) via serial port using Keyspan USA 28X B. We’ve tried configuring channel and deck many times but Avid refuses to see the deck. The keyspan has the latest drivers, according to their site, compatible with Leopard.Avid running on a 2x3Ghz Quad core Mac Osx 10.5. 4 4G Ram, SDI MojoAny suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
Last time that happened to me it was because the deck control cable had come loose. It must have gotten caught on another wire that I was relocating.
Thanks, but we checked and re-checked all connections and they're fine. It seems to be something to do with the way OSx is dealing with the keyspan.
Go to your network sytem preference and delete the keyspan channels you find there. Then reinstall the Keyspan drivers. Once they are reinstalled, open the network pane again an allow OSX to find them. Once you "Check them in" to OSX, the Avid should see the keyspan again (Hopefully). If it doesn't, I would try another Keyspan.

Is the Keyspan listed under USB in the system profiler?
Yes, pianoman, the keyspan is listed under USB in the system profiler. Thanks Blkdog, I’ll try your suggestion on Monday and will let you know. Many thanks to you both.
I'll echo Blkdog - just been through this. Had to uninstall drivers and reinstall after making some changes to my system drive. I think the drivers are 2.5.

Tried a reinstall as suggested by BLKDG, twice, but no joy. Also checked the actual keyspan on a different system (non Leopard) and it worked without problems. Is this something to do with the OSx (1.5.4). I’m using the latest keyspan drivers, 2.5. Any ideas? Many thanks.
SORTED!In case someone’s having the same problem here’s what made it work for me:- Followed BLKDG’s tip above without uninstalling the driver, but reinstalling it on top,- Rebooted after every step.- Bypassed the USB hub and plugged it directly into the Mac.Thank you for your help.
The hub was an important piece of info you left out. Avid doesn't support them for deck control.
I've been having a related problem for a long time, and had given up on solving it, but I'm seizing this moment to pursue it again. I have a Keyspan USA-28XG, which Avid is seeing fine - it shows up in the deck config and everything, it's just that the Avid never sees the deck attached to it. I've tried configuring port 1, port 2, and "keyserial" but they all turn up empty. I've done all the steps suggested in this thread and have the latest driver (2.5). The deck is a JVC BR-DV3000U, and the remote switch is set to 9pin. Any ideas?

Don't knwo what you've tried already but if you have tried different decks, then I'd get 'hold of another keyspan to test.
Good thought - I only have the one deck, but maybe I can borrow another and try that. Thanks.
