Hi!
I just installed Avid Xpress Pro 5.7, but when i try to play a sequence the sound plays, but not the picture, it just shows me a black screen. As soon as i press "Pause" i can see the Video and i can fast forward using the arrows still watching the video. It is just like when you have created an effect, but not rendered it (Sorry for my bad english).
Any Sugestions? =)
Thanks in Advance
Magnus
Check and make sure "render on the fly" is active. You'll find it either in the clip menu or the special menu.

It is active, still doesn't work.
Thanks anyway=)
Is this problem something new that's recently come up, or has your system never been able to display realtime playback? Your system specs are not listed, so I would immediately suspect an unqualified graphics card or the wrong version of graphics card drivers.
Well, my graphic card is XFX ge force 8800 GT. I Think my computer shuld be able to handle it.
Be advised that Vista BUSINESS is the only flavor of Vista OS that is supported for Avid. Here are the system requirements for MC 3.0. You will also notice that NVIDIA quadro cards are supported, not GE force.
Well running Xpress Pro 5.7 on Vista will never give you video playback ... so end of research here. You need XP Professional or upgrade to MediaComposer version 3.0 as Larry suggested.

Oops, Menno is right, I didn't notice it was XPRO that you have. The only OS supported for XPRO is Windows XP Pro SP 2 32 bit. No other OS is qualified on the PC side. Here are the system requirements for XPRO.
Thanks for your help everyone! I only got one simple question left... If i Install XP instead of vista... wil XPRO 5.7 work? I have used XPRO 5.7 on a laptop with a geforce 5650 card for two years now, so it seems as GeForce works
So long as you install specifically XP Pro Service Pack 2, 32 bit. The problem is the graphics card - again Quadro are the ones supported, not GE force, but you still have a 50/50 chance that it will work with GE force - some users have been lucky in this regard, others have not. I'd carefully check the specs of the computer you have against the requirements and try to do the best match up you can. Avid (and most of the Forum members here) always strongly recommend going with qualified systems, but as I said before, some have deviated and been lucky. But there are also no guarantees for long term performance and stability, just because a non-qualified system works initially. I would think in your case, based on your previous performance with 5.7 that it should continue to work after the OS replacement.
