    Knowledge Base "Lack of Mac"

Why is it that any search for "uninstall/reinstall" on the Knowledge Base yields results for PC only? That is completely unacceptable. There is a user who needs the Mac procedure now. Lots of Mac users out there who need equal treatment. C'mon, Avid.

Mac uninstall process in general is not the same in the PC platform. Traditionally just by deleting the folder that was considered an uninstall (some OS X apps you still can). Now, companies must provide their own uninstall. I have not done an Avid uninstall on OS X for a long while but the last time I did, the Avid installers have an option for uninstall also.

The last time I did an uninstall was on OS 9, and I used Sherlock to find all files with the relevant application's name and delete them. Did the job satisfactorily.

Re: Knowledge Base "Lack of Mac"

But your point is still valid, Larry.  Even if it is a simple matter of running the install program again, there should be a comment to that effect for Mac users as part of that topic on the knowledge base.  Especially since Apple's marketting approach for Mac is that you don't require any technical skills to use one.

Thanks Kelly! That's a very useful link and it should be embedded in any knowledge base item that deals with "uninstall".

Re: Knowledge Base "Lack of Mac"

All of the above is very helpful.  If someone comes here looking for this information it's a great help.  However, users are more likely to go to the knowledge base for this sort of information.  As Larry said, when he started the thread:
