What is compression ratio in video?
The compression ratios are different depending on what quality you want. The higher the compression ratio (like 15:1) the lower the quality. The highest quality is uncompressed (1:1). And various flavors of compression in between.

Hi,
This Wikipedia article about video compression explains it pretty well.
good luck,Carl
There is no such thing as a video emergency. My Demo Website
The joke is that all video is compressed.
The cameras throw out information that the manufacturers deem difficult to compress before it ever gets to that stage. Then, in 4:2:2 video half the chroma is already gone.
Unless you are using RAW data from the sensor (Which already is not capable of capturing everything that is there), you are using compressed video.

I'm a little concerned, ruparam. Your byline identifies you as an Avid engineer, yet the questions you post here indicate no knowledge whatsoever of the fundamentals.
Ruparam, I have to agree with jwrl. If as an Avid Engineer, your knowledge of the basics is this incomplete, no offense intended, I wouldn't let you touch anything in my operation.
