Trying to configure decks but when I try to add a deck on a Firewire on OHCI channel, there are no decks listed at all for any of the manufacturers. - "None Available" Did I not load something right?
Thanks.
It does indeed sounds like something went wrong. Best thing to do is uninstall Avid backup any projects or settings you want, rename-relocate or delete the Avid folder in Program files and re-install see if that clears things up. Also check the readme where there is quite extensive information on what might be needed to do when upgrading from 2.x to 3.x

I have the exact same problem going from 3.0 to 3.0.5. In 3.0 I had deck choices.
In 3.0.5 I see a list of manufacturers but "None Available" is the only deck choice. Very strange. And of course I have material I want to capture.
Auto configure in Deck Configuration does nothing at all. Show is set to "All Devices."
P.S. I followed the uninstall directions from the Readme, including removing folders and registry keys. I reinstalled MC 3.0.5 and still no device choices. This is very frustrating, especially for a .0.5 upgrade. Any help is much appreciated.
I would LOVE some help with this. I really need to be able capture, but can't because there are no device choices.
As I said above, I did a complete uninstall and reinstall following the directions in the Readme. Still no device choices.
Please help.
Thanks much.
Best to give Avid a call on this one BMF....let them know what's going on and they'll get you fixed up.

Should I call 1-800-800-2843 (got that number from avid.com), as I don't have support contract?
I just purchased MC 3.0 (was using AXP 5.8.4) and it was working fine. The .0.5 upgrade started this problem.
Yes, If you just purchased the software, you should have a code for one free support call to get setup.
BTW, can you shed some light on if a complete uninstall of 3.0 is necessary/desireable when upgrading from 3.0 to 3.0.5? The 3.0.5 Readme is rather unclear. In some parts it seems to be talking about going from 2.7 to 3.0, not 3.0 to 3.0.5.
(This point is being debated here: http://community.avid.com/forums/t/63747.aspx)
I want to give this one last shot before calling Avid. I'm thinking of removing everything, user settings, ALL Avid folders and registry entries, etc. But should I install 3.0 and then 3.0.5 or go directly to 3.0.5? Perhaps 3.0 has some componets that 3.0.5 relies upon. IDK. If this one last try doesn't work, I'll give Avid a call.
Thanks for your help.
BobbyMurcerFan:But should I install 3.0 and then 3.0.5 or go directly to 3.0.5? Perhaps 3.0 has some componets that 3.0.5 relies upon.
Go straight to 3.0.5. It's a full installer--if you installed 3.0 first, you would then need to uninstall it to install 3.0.5.
Avid doesn't give us patches or "upgrades" to previously installed software. They just give you the entire program again to install. Which is nice, because if you ever need to install an older version (or install it on another system) you don't spend all day installing version 2 then updating for in small increments for hours to get to 3.
Michael.
Before you go throught the reinstall process, do yoiu see the tapedeck in the Windows Device Manager? It should be in listed under Imaging Devices. If Windows does not see the deck, Avid will not.

Oddly enough, Device Manager doesn't have a section for Imaging Devices, but the camera can still be captured from in Vegas (and now MC 3.0.5).
I did a truly complete uninstall: Used Add/Remove programs, deleted all the remaining Avid folders and files I could find, deleted all Avid registry entries under HKey_Local_Machine and ran two registry cleaners.
I also re-downoladed 3.0.5. The net result? I have a working version of MC 3.0.5 with device choices. I'm not sure what happened, but I imagine there was some leftover setting from the AXP version I uninstalled awhile ago that persisted and didn't work well w/ 3.0.5. I'll never know, but hopefully, this build will work smoothly.
THANKS VERY MUCH for all the help offered here.
