Hello, wondering if you lot would be able to help out a noob in distress. I posted here earlier and received a helpful reply; unfortunately I've now found out that for whatever reason, the solution suggested doesn't fix my problem!
Basically I have a video project which incorporates powerpoint slides as jpgs, which I know I ought to have imported with the 'maintain and resize' option but was too ignorant to do so. Now I've completely finished the project and have only to export out and burn to DVD-Video in order to watch on TV (PAL).
Every time I do so, however, the jpgs appear cut off (only at the top and bottom) when I play back on TV.
I've tried exporting to a number of different formats, including DV (which was suggested to me in the first post), and to no avail.
Hope this post is specific enough. Thank-you for reading; I really appreciate any help as university tutors seem unable or unwilling to assist me.

Not sure if the JPG's are the issue, but couldn't you "Batch Import" the JPG's, and bring them in correctly this time? They'll replace the originals in your timeline.

Hmm, that's not a bad idea. Only problem is, I might have been really, really stupid and deleted the original jpgs (due to lack of space).
I'll have to have a look, I'm going to uni in about an hour, so..
Thanks!
No luck!!
I found some of the original jpgs and batch imported them in, choosing to override the old settings with the current ones ('maintain and resize'). To be completely sure, I even tried a different setting for each slide. I exported to a quicktime movie and burnt to DVD-Video.
NONE of them would play in the correct ratio.
Can anybody else help me? I know it's a tired old refrain, but honestly, if I have to spend any more time on this project which is now eating into my university time, I'm going to maim someone. Or something.
I'm assuming you're working in SD. I think the problem you're having is trying to fit PowerPoint into a 4:3 ratio. Every powerpoint image I've seen looks squared off and not 4:3. Since you say it's just slightly off top and bottom, perhaps in this case, putting a 3D warp effect on your sequence and adjusting only the vertical parameter of scaling would solve your problem satisfactorily enough to output.

Yes, I am.
Would this involve me mixing down all the video so I can put the effect on the entire sequence at once?
Sounds tedious, but if it's what I have to do...
No you don't have to mixdown. You can do it one of two ways:
1. Add a new video track above your current one. Place an add edit at the very beginning and end of the track. Drag a 3D Warp effect to the filler. Park over any PP image (assuming they are all the same size and proportion) and adjust.
2. In segment edit mode, shift select all the segments in the sequence and OPT double click the 3D Warp effect. This will apply the effect globally across all clips. Adjust. You can use the up and down arrow keys on the timeline tool to "step into" and "step out" of the newly created submaster effect to access the original clips in the sequence.
Brilliant! Thank-you. I'm back at uni so will be able to try this now.
Just wanted to say thanks a lot! Fixed the problem and I'm as happy with it as can be. I know it's a delayed response, but better late than never, eh.
You're quite welcome. Glad that solved the problem for you.
