Hi all,
We recently bought a used Dekocast system and I am new to Dekocast. It was not stable and I had to install system again.
It seems to work fine now. When I create a scene in Dekocast and want to save it I get an error message saying this:
ERROR xml : XML save scene file raised COM error:'System does not support specified encoding.' Source msxml3.dll, Error 'Unspecified error', HRESULT 0x80004005
and it saves a 0 kbytes file. When I want to open this saved file it says:
FATAL xml : Error loading XML DOMDocument
But it opens old test scene files and runs them without any problem.
Can you please tell me what the problem is and how to correct it? I am not familiar with the function of xml files.
Thanks.
It sounds like there is an issue with the MSXML file that was part of the install. Try uninstalling and reinstalling and see if that helps. If that doesn't work, you could try installing the latest MSXML engine from the MS web site. Just Google MSXML6 download and it will take you to the download page.
Good luck...
Thanks TheCuz,
I tried what you suggested. It did not help. Our Dekocast is Windows 2000 SP4, so I was not able to install msxml6. I installed msxml4. But no change; same error messages.
Any other suggestion?
Thanks again...
Have you tried an uninstall/reinstall of the DekoCast software?
Hi. With some luck, you would have also received a support contract. Otherwise, I believe you can purchase one. The DekoCast support folks are great - so you might benefit from a call to them.
For Avid On-Air Graphics (Deko, Thunder, DekoCast) technical or operational support, contact Avid Broadcast Support:
Tele: (866) 472-2736
Press 1, then 5, then 1
Thanks - and good luck.
Teicia
This problem occured when I reinstalled the system, because it was not stable. Now all the software work well without crashes except this error.
I tried uninstalling/installing Dekocast again. The Dekocast installation cd I have reads ver 4.1 but after installation the Dekocast now says it is ver 6.6. You have an idea about this?(Can it give a clue?)
Thanks Teicia, but we have a very limited budget. That is also why we bought a used unit. Though I do not know if the support contract very costly.
Might be worth a call to Broadcast Support. They can give you the appropriate information for adding support. And it would save you a ton of headache like this in the future.
Good luck.
Problem was solved after uninstalling/installing all Dekocast software and some others several times.
Thanks everybody for the contributions.
Glad to hear that you got it fixed!
