I'm working with MIni-DV tapes, PAL, capturing through my Canon XM2, and with tapes shot with a Canon XL-1. These tapes capture fine, but when trying to capture the same kind of tape with footage shot from a JVC GY-HD100, the composer seems to freeze when trying to capture. The tape keeps playing through the capture window but vision and sound are cut off.
Is there some kind of setting I need to adjust to get footage shot with the JVC to capture? Both are 25-frames, PAL, shot on Mini-DV. I'm using Xpress Pro 5.8.
Thanks for any help.-Dan
I think you are in bad luck. We have had many situations where DV footage shot on a Sony for instance was not playable on a different sony even though it was the same model. If the heads of the JVC where slightly out of allignment you are in trouble on another camera.
See if the playback from the camera works by connecting it to a tv or monitor.. if that works hmm.. next thought

Playback works fine through TV and even plays fine when watching back in Avid. It's only when it comes to actually clicking capture that it freezes and fails to capture anything. If I can't get round this using Avid can anybody recommend a program that won't have this problem, and will capture in 16:9 DV-AVI? I could install Adobe Premiere Pro but it seems a little wasteful if I'm just going to be importing it then into Avid.
