Trying to install 3.0 on my pc and getting the error message " You are installing on an unsupported configuration, installation Ending"
I am current specs are a Dual Core Pentium Extreme Edition 965, Windows Vista Ultimate, and 2 SLI Gefore 7900 GTX Cardsand 4GB of RAM.
I tried soft modding my cards to quadros but I still get the same error when trying to install. Im thinking it might be the processor since it isnt a Core2Duo. Although it is faster than alot of the Core2Duos on the market. Im willing to upgrade some parts but I want to make sure I get the right one. I dont have slot of money to spend. Any Advice?
I think it's the Vista Ultimate as only Vista Business is supported.

I've read on this forum alot of ppl seem to have no problems running Vista Ultimate. Doesnt make sense that it wouldnt work. Its supposed the most complete copy of Vista there is. A step above Vista Business. But I will give Business a shot. Can anybody confirm for me that it is working for them on Vista Ultimate?
Hmm, I've found people running ultimate on a Mac Pro but not on PC. Could be that it works I was just trying to guess at what could trigger that install error from a software point of view.
You're right though, it could, very well, be the processor too. In any event, I would stick with Vista Business as a rule. It will be hard to support any problems you may have if you run an unsupported OS.
Also...
Have you had any other version of the AVid software on this CPU?
I had 2.8 on this PC up until about a week ago.
Ok, that could, very well, be the problem. This error will pop up if the install hits an old driver that it can't reconcile. Did you do a full uninstall? If so, check the read me file carefully about how to uninstall and update the software and see if that helps any.
I was running MC 3.0 on vista ultimate (x64), but on a core2quad and with one 7900gto (which is, essentially, a gtx with lower memory clock). My first suspect would be the SLI configuration, because MC is rather picky about graphics cards. You can verify if that's the problem by (temporary) removing one of your 7900gtx cards and/or disabling SLI in bios and driver.
Good Luck!

Ok. It looks like there was an old driver. I went through my system and deleted any file related to Avid and then reinstalled. Works like a charm. Thanks BLKDOG!
