    Firewire Switch

    Hi,

i own two Avid Systems (both with Mojo analog) but only one recording deck. Is it possible to install a firewire-switch where i can connect the Mojos and the deck ? Are there any recommendations ?

Dont know about firewire, but it is possible via rs-422 hooked up to a Laird er2.  It works very nicely.

    Re: Firewire Switch

There are firewire switches, cheap mechanical (just dis/re-connecting the physical lines) and more expensive electronic ones (acting as a firewire repeater as well).

A mechanical one should do, like that one:

Switching mechanically is just like unplugging here and plugging in there, only more comfortable, but there are no "active" elements involved, your avid and mojo won't even notice the difference.

Ironically you may get problems if you buy a more expensive electronic switchbox, mojo is known to be picky about firewire repeaters...

not a pro, just a teacher...

    Re: Firewire Switch

    I am using a Kramer VS-4x4FW (a passive switcher).
    No problems at all.
