I am in the process of making my first real documentary which will be about 30min in lenght. It will go together with a book so I have to deliver it in dvd format and the client will then make the copies. I am just now getting to learn Avid dvd and am doing my first test but I would like to know.
1- what is the standard procedure to go from my final timeline to a dvd. untill now I have exported a quicktime movie and imported it in avid dvd. is this correct? do I need to go through sorenson squeeze first?
2-in avid dvd I have learned how to make all the menus ect. and it works fine. the only thing I don't like is the box around a selection. instead of having a box I would like to highlight only the text, without a box around it. is this only possible by building the graphic in photoshop (which i don't know how to use) or is there some other way?
3-any tips on how to make the menu look sharp and professional?
thanks in advance
Well, I tried making the dvd but almost at the end I get this error message:
"could not complete the last command because OS Err, 337408"
anyone know why or what it is?
Hi,
Milco:what is the standard procedure to go from my final timeline to a dvd. untill now I have exported a quicktime movie and imported it in avid dvd. is this correct? do I need to go through sorenson squeeze first?
Generally, the process is:
1. Export a Quicktime Reference Movie from Media Composer.2. Use the QT Reference movie in your encoder program (Squeeze, Procoder, whatever) to convert the file into a DVD compliant file.3. Use the file that comes from your encoder in your authoring program; in this case Avid DVD.
Take a look at How to DVD (scroll down) for a lot of information and workflows for making DVDs.
