We might be getting somewhere.
If we agree that Adobe and FCP cannot improve their products to compete with Avid DS Quantel and Smoke and pro editors are prepared to pay more money than a $20k FCP system then it is a case of price discovery to find out what price people / business are going to pay for a high-end product that gives a better creative experience and has industrial strength productivity.
My feeling that price is between $40,000 and $60,000 (£25k - £35k for us in the UK) for a full system with local storage on that basis Avid have a good chance of selling a lot of Avid DS systems around the world if they play their cards right.
camoscato:p.s. I want some sort of Avid Forum Vocabulary Award for using both "ubiquity" and "anectodal" in one post.
a little bit off topic:
here you go, carl,
btw. i didn´t even know that a word like ubiquity really exits.
it´never too late to learn something.
FSD:here you go, carl
Florian, you are now officially my favorite member of the Avid Community. Thanks very much for my award. I don't have a speech prepared, and I'm afraid I'll leave someone out, so I'd just like to thank you, Florian.
