no signal when capture from HDV

i am using MC3.0 and sony HDV HDR-FX1E , i shot some HDV format footage from my HDV cam and i opened a project ( project type 1080i/50 , raster type HDV ) for capture . but it said "no signal present" ! i can control the HDV cam from my avid , and avid can read the timecode~ why?

and i tried to shot some SD footage from the same cam , everything is fine .

am i set something wrong in my HDV project?

thank alot , and sorry for my poor english

Sometimes those cameras have a menu setting to send a signal out via FW. Could that be the problem?

If you change the downconvert setting in the camera, you need to physically disconnect the camera from the computer (and then reconnect it) in order for the computer to recognize the new setting.

I use a Sony HDR-HC1.  I was having similar problems.  I changed settings and it still wouldn't accept the signal.

Finally I did set the camera to output HDV and turned off the HDV to DV conversion auto function.  It still didn't work.  So in desperation I shut off the camera and turned it back on.  Voila!! it worked.

Re: no signal when capture from HDV

I have been having the same problem with HDV from a Canon XH-A1 using MC3 on a Vista system. Within a few seconds of starting the capture, I get the same, 'no signal present' message. I have spent hours trying to figure out what is going on. I have even tried uninstalling and reinstalling MC3.

If anyone has any other idea, please share. I sure could use them!

Re: no signal when capture from HDV

You could possible try defining a custom pre-roll of 10 sec+ (in the capture tool.) This has helped me.

    Try start>run - regsvr32 to fix your dvbuffers.ax

also, make sure the camera/deck is not in downconvert mode and you're not trying to capture on the same bus segment as a Mojo.

    MoJave,

Vista business was tested and is supported.  Ultimate was not so I have no idea if this might be part of the issue.  I did ask QA to log this as a bug and they are workign to reproduce .....

    Can you try Vista business?

Re: no signal when capture from HDV

    Marianna,

I reported the same problem with Vista-64 Ultimate lats year, when MC 3.0 came out. You customer service has tried to solve it, but no success so far. The miracle is, that MC does not communicate with the cams/decks, while other software on the same system has no problem, e.g. Moviemaker or the Main Concept capture tool.

In another thread http://community.avid.com/forums/t/67698.aspx?PageIndex=3    I reported about my experience with Windows 7 Beta 64-Ultimate. After initial proiblems with video palyback it now works fine - and captureing from my tape deck is also o.k.
