anyone know how can I export resolution of 1:1 ratio to DV? Theres no way am I right? Only way is to redownconvert to DV25 right?
What is the usual workflow to get 1:1 ratio video out of the system? through component? s-video/video on Mojo?
...Attach your Avid component cables to your Mojo output (S-Video + Composite). Set the video output tool to component and either do a digital cut or simply hit Record on your deck and hit the space bar on your keyboard (You need fast external HDD's or stuttersville will be with out on 1:1 uncompressed.) Do you absolutely need uncompressed ? Are you going out to tape or are you delivering in a file format ? If delivery is out to tape, then encode all your uncompressed footage after you have edited it to DNxHD 10 X (10 bit). It is very clean but highly compressed and puts low demand on your CPU and HDD's to play it out from your timeline or digital cut.
The thing is don't peak too early in life. Currently at MC 3.0
hey where do you get "DNxHD 10x?" I don't see it.. what format should I be in to see that?
The movie im working with decided to decompose and recapture everything in 1:1 uncompressed so I figure, whats the advantage? yes better quality, but can I export it out to tape? So I use Component cables to export it out? That will give me 1:1 uncompressed? I feel component out is just like analog and loses quality.. or does it?
The potential advantages are pretty variable.
What was it shot on? If it was shot to DV, then a 1:1 Analogue Component capture isn't really going to increase the quality at all.
If you're planning a 1:1 output to DV tape, then there is limited advantage (as the result picture will be recompressed to DV by the deck). What's more the Digital/Analogue/Digital conversion process has the potential to shift the picture slightly (even by only a pixel or two) which then means that DV DCT blocks (if it was shot DV) will not align and compression artifacting is likely to be worse.
Essentially, if you're shooting on DV and finishing onto DV then you should capture via Firewire as 1:1 or DV, render footage at 1:1, and output to DV via Firewire.

My opinions are my own.
"Essentially, if you're shooting on DV and finishing onto DV then you should capture via Firewire as 1:1 or DV, render footage at 1:1, and output to DV via Firewire."
So that being said, how do I output this to DV via firewire when resolution is 1:1 uncompressed? It's not possible is it? Only way is through component right?
Trying a digital cut doesnt seem to work, it just plays through mojo, but not through firewire to deck connected to mojo... make sense?
From standard Mojo you can connect DV deck via Firewire and output 1:1 (it is downconverted in realtime in the Mojo to DV25, I believe).
then maybe I am doing something wrong..
the connection is like this:
I connect my computer to the Mojo via firewire, and then the mojo to my deck, firewire.. am I doing something wrong? I check the digital cut and yes its playing through my mojo, but its not going to my deck.. which is weird.. and the avid sees my deck..
That should be working I believe, but I'm not in a position to check the setup out at the moment, so I can't say if there's likely to be anything weird there.
