There have been notices that a problem exists in Windows XP PRO SP1 and SP2 that allow hackers to take over a PC using that operating system with those service packs. Microsoft has published a "fix" for that problem and it comes in SP3.
Has anyone running Media Composer 3.0 installed Service Pack 3 in Windows XP PRO? If so, what have been the results?
Thank you.
I've been running SP3 on an MC 2.8 for about a month with no problems. I'd reccomend to anyone to try it and see. Preferably not in the middle of a deadline critical project...

Two things: if you have a stable edit system, don't mess with it. And if you don't have your edit system connected to the internet no hacker can take control of it.
That said, I have SP3 on my current system and it is stable. So far I haven't discovered anything that's broken in Avid.
i'm on service pack 3 as well with MC 3.0. seems fine.

Thank you everyone for the excellent response. In an effort to be on the safe side, I have installed Acronis so I may erase SP-3 and reinstall the former operating system and programs in a few minutes time should SP-3 create problems for me.
im running sp 3 and mc 3.0 all's well
