So I captured footage from deck, and edit in standard mode, and now I need to transcode and recapture as HDV, but for some reason AVID detects this tape as non-drop, captured timecode as non-drop which when I recapture, makes everything out of sync.
So when I tried to modify the clip to drop-frame and changed the timecode to exactly what the code is on tape, it lines up perfectly, but then avid wont let me use the tape because it keeps insisting it's non-drop tape.. which clearly, is not.
I tried lining up for non-drop and it does not match at all.. I tried relabeling the tape, everything, but it seems like avid is confident that the tape in the deck is non-drop, which again is not..
anyone can help me out? im lost in this situation. I usually can just modify everything and it all works out well but this situation does not.. anyone?
no answer to this? anyone?

this is true - i've seen this in media composer even over SDI and serial deck control. you stick the DV tape in and Avid defaults to one setting and will capture under that setting if you don't play the tape and let Avid realize that it isn't what it thought. but if you hit play you can watch it change from semi colon to color (or the other way around).
AND if you capture everything the wrong way I think you're screwed as far as recapturing to existing timecode, etc.
