So I have 9 Avids here, all named Avid 1, Avid 2, etc. The original setup on the Unity had the same names for the Users: Avid 1, Avid 2, etc. However, the problem was that I either had to give read/write access to each of the workspaces on Unity, for each edit room, or have to keep going into the Administrator and change the edit room's access. Pain in the a** for me. So I decided to set up users based on the projects. For example, we have a project for HBO. I made the user "HBO" and gave it read/write access to the HBO workspace, the projects workspace and the users workspace. Thus someone could go into any of our edit rooms, go to the connection manager, change users, put in HBO and the password and have access to their project, user settings, and the media on the workspace. I did this for all our projects and it seems to work great for the fiber clients, but my ethernet clients I get;
"HBO is not a valid user, does not have access to any workspaces, or does not have a domain user account which matches the unity user name. Please use a valid Unity user name with workspace access to log in"
Why do my fiber clients works just fine but the ethernet clients have issues?
For ethernet you must add HBO as a Windows Server User. Go to Manage, User accounts, add user. Fiber clients see one thing, the file manager, they have no windows networking capibility. Thus, all they need to log in is a user within the media net software. Ethernet use windows networking. Thus, you need to add them as users.
