Hi,
I'm trying to listen to some music in Windows Media Player while typing in endless English to Spanish titles. Everytime I switch to Avid the system audio is muted. I looked around in the settings but I can't find anything. Any ideas?
Using MCA 3.0

Don't know how to get to your music but you did know that 3.0 now supports open captioning..right? Just import your caption script into the subcap effect and off you go.

That's pretty cool. Unfortunately, no captions here though, replacing VO, audio for interviews and titles. Has to be done the old fashioned way.
So am I understanding the subcap effect will recognize all the TC information in the file and distribute the subtitles accordingly? Very cool if it does.
It does indeed.
Very useful tool. I'll almost definitely use it in the future. Got a project coming up at the end of the year that'll probably need this sort of thing. Thanks for the tip.
Still would love to un-mute the system audio while in MC!
I listen to itunes while working in Avid. The audio volume is lower (muted) but I just have to turn the volume up a little. Hope this helps.
My simple solution to this cause: I have a $10 usb sound"card" (more like a dongle...) and play the music through this device, either to the headphones (I often have to edit in a semi-crowded room), or to the tape-in-connectors of our studio mixer.
not a pro, just a teacher...
