Hi. I have to start this post with a excuse for my bad english writing. I`m from Norway you see.
I´m a video editor who has used protools before, now i want to use it again and I want to buy a protools license.
I have a HP xw-4600 - avid certified with Avid 5.8, MOJO SDI. -soon going up to composer.
How can i get protools work good with the AVID/MOJO running? - and what do i need to excange files from AVID to PT and back?
If i get the PT and AVID too cooperate, where does the sound come out from Avid and PT. - Both from MOJO, both from PT-I/O-module ore PT-sound from PT-I/O-module and Avid sound from MOJO?
What kind of i/o module should i buy for this setup to get it work?- I dont need all I/O. I just need the editing tools for my AVID timeline.
So, all in all; I just wonder if one of you have a familiar set up and if you could tell me what would be the best way to do the setup for this kind of editing.
Regards Ole, deadline.
I recommend a separate computer for ProTools and Media Composer -- they are not currently qualified to work on the same system.
Pro Tools requires a Pro Tools interface - i.e. Digi 002/003, MBox, etc. -- which acts as a dongle as well as an audio output device.
While you can export a Quicktime file for import into ProTools and then "bounce" a stereo mix to disk for import into Avid, a better option is to have Digitranslator. This allows you to keep your multi-track recordings intact while exchanging data from Avid to Pro Tools and vice versa.
Hopefully, in a future release of Avid Media Composer, the Pro Tools driver compatibility issues will be fixed once and for all.
