what is the proper way in deleting media files using the media manager...we are using the media manager for deleting files but we get error messages in some deleted files...
What version of Media manager are you running, and when was the MM server last restarted, or an IIS reset performed?
JDS
the version of the media manager is v.4.5.12...the last time it was restarted was 2 weeks ago...the error message is "unity connection error or path not found File://ssd/wncaa clips/avid media file/mxf/nc1.1/boxprem mai48c796c.mxf"...it depends on the clips that will be deleted and even when deleted it does not free up space in the drive....is it okay to delete disassociated file with the media manager?...(",)
A few things.
1. Your Media manager needs a kick in the Ram once in a while. Open the command window on the server (this is when nobody is connected) type in the following iisreset /restart The service will stop.. then start again..
2. The system doesn't know your files are gone, most likely thrown away at the OS level. Go to /ssd/wncaa clips/avid media file/mxf/nc1.1 on NC1. Inside that folder you will find 1 media database, Throw it away. the system should rebuild that database at once, giving you a correct indication of what really is in that folder. If it doesn't rebuild at once, relaunch the editing application.
3. This process is repeatable on other media folders, just be aware that a trashed database can only be rebuilt by the edit system that "owns" that folder name.
thank you very much...for the great help....deletion now is a breeze no errors reports....can i ask another question how can we delete media files that are now disassociated using the media manager...thank you....
