    Direct import of QT metadata

Maybe this has to do with some politics between Avid and Apple, but reading the metadata on any file with it durring import is a really obvious feature to add.

MC does read the metadata a fostex FR-2 writes on its waveforms so it's obviously possible and already there to some extent.

I'm certainly not alone when I say that most of the video I import from other programs is Quicktime, and it more often than not does have at least timecode. Granted I can use metacheater, but its another case of using a workaround third party app for something the main app should be able to do anyway. I think MetaFuze is supposed to help with this, but that's PC only at this point, and its still an extra step we shouldnt need to take to get our timecode.

Exporting with TC would also be nice.

Timecoded metadata from QuicTime is slated for the next release. Workaorounds are nice to have when there are only so many resources to get things done.

Good to hear. Do you know/can you say when that is?

    Thanks.

I sort of know, but can't really say when. I have to check which release it is targeted for and as long as it is within the quarter I can say it precisely (public company rules).

Re: Direct import of QT metadata

I was always under the impression that Quicktime was a little 'loose' with it's timecode which was the reason that Avid avoided it. But I don't know where I got that idea. Good to hear it's on the horizon.
