Hello community,
Am going crazy trying to get composer to work on my brand new macbookpro, 2x2.5ghz,4gb,Geforce8800 system on the windows partition.
Installed boot camp
installed original windows xp pro sw (sp2)
installed composer sw (win version)
installed correct qt and wmp sw
N.B. The only thing that is NOT BY THE BOOK (avid recommended) is the os software is in the Italian language.
While composer loads I get the message " error initializing ACPL Effects" and it kicks me out.
Help please.
Antonio
Why do you not want to run the software on the Mac side?

we have 11 windows based composer/adrenalines running on unity. the portable is used to go on the road and/or finish work already started in one of the edit bays. The choice of windows is purely for compatibility (copying from adrenaline to lacie usb/firewire disk) reasons.
thanks for the question
Ho Antonio,
I got the same error after installing MC 3.0.1 on a MacBook (non-Pro).
I searched these forums and found a posting where someone had trouble launching the app, and it would hang when initialising some effect (don't recall which), and someone advised to deleted said effect from the MC pckg.
Since my system hung on the ACPL intialisation, I went into the Avid package and - from the effects list - deleted all files labeled ACPL. Then it worked. I later asked an Avid rep if he could tell me what ACPL is, and apparently it is the official label for the GPU acceleration feature. After disabling it, it ran fine on the MacBook.
I know you are running under WIndows, but my guess would be that - like with my MacBook, the software's ACPL Effects do not agree with your graphics card. Not sure how or where to find the APCL in a Windows install, but you might give it a try.
Thank you, Thank you, Thank you. Works perfectly.
