I want to delete all of the media for a certain project. So, I went to the consolidate feature.
When I tell it concolidate, it says, "Insufficient space for a file of 43950652K on any selected volume."
I have 15 GB on my storage drive, hence the reason I am consolidating. Why does it need more then that when it's only deleting files?
help?

Because consolidating is not the delete process. To delete media, you should ALWAYS use the media tool. You can select only the current project or all projects. And most importantly, you delete SAFELY without throwing away things you may need. Also, the media tool is the only way to delete pre-computes - rendered effects, imported matte graphic clips, titles and so on, which in and of themselves take up significant space along with regular video and audio media. Use the consolidate function when you want to change project linkage or save only the media associated with a particular sequence, or to move media from one drive to another. Don't use it to delete.

Okay, here's the deal: I used to use the media tool to delete project media. However, ever since I started using MXF files from P2 cards, the media wil only show those kind of files.
It won't show any DV25 stuff that I've captured off a tape, just the media I imported off of my HVX200.
Is there some filter setting I'm missing?
Thanks.
That's very strange, because all of your media for any given project - master clips, pre-computes, media files - should be displayed in the Media Tool. If not, try rebuilding the Media Databases and then launching the media tool.
uhgh. I can not seem to find the two msm files to delete. Did they get moved around in v 5.8?
Nope, sort your media by date created. They will be the two files that pop to the top.

I found em. Avid's scaning the media drive now.
Alright, upon loading up the Media tool, I'm still getting
"Exception: ‘CM_NO_TRACKS_FOUND’
An error occurred loading database.
D:/ Avid MediaFiles/MXF/1"
MXF folder 1 is the folder that contains the media for this project. I have no idea why it's not playing nice with this folder. It is the only folder that contains dv25 media.
