just ran into the same problem..  Updated fine without any issues, then once I installed 3.0 it said my dongle wasn't liscenced to run the version.

I started out by upgrading to MC from Xpress then registered then blasted dongle...  and now it doesn't run...

I'm guessing it's because the dongle only says MC 2.8 not 3.0...  but I'm eligible for the free upgrade from 2.8 to 3.0.

Right but your error message is different. that message says that your dongle is not yet upgraded. You need to go to avid.com/protect and download a versioner for 3.x. Blasting the dongle for 2.8 doesn't get you a license for 3.x.

my bad, I overlooked the versioner above the actual download...  I apologize.

I sent a email to warranty@avid.com  yesterday after lunch with my info, and I have´nt got any answer at this point. I know there´s a lot of nervous people like me, trying to solve their own problems...I have to take a plane this Friday because I´m going to edit on location and I need the laptop with the media composer software.

Can I do something else?

Fidelio, you should have used your upgrade key at avid.com/register to obtain an updater.avd file. Did you do that? Did you get the file?

Yes. I did all 3, and this one doesn't work. same error message: "No dongle compatible with this update file found.

The dongle is blasted for 2.8, and is a "Rainbow Duo" donhgle - which they had originally said wouldn't work, but changed that statement for 2.8 - and it indeed did work.

Sorry for all this fuss . .

I am now doing it for the third time. Wish me luck!

Tried and failed. Still got 2.8 blasted on that Sucka. What's next?
