OK, I know the answer should be obvious, but after conflicting experiences, two directly conflicting replies from Avid tech non-support, and no DIRECT answer that I can find in KB or FAQ (obviously I just can't seem to hit the obvious spot), I have to resort to asking a stupid question:
I know that MC 3.0.1 works with the analog mojo, since I am using it on my MB Pro. But I am a PC guy with three HP's (xw8400). Is it really true that the analog mojo is now a lightweight boat-anchor with respect to PC running MC 3.0? Will only my SDI mojo work?
Sorry to have to ask.

Not from an Avid support standpoint...no. It's supposed to be supported. More on the PC side than even the Mac side at this point.

have an approved xw8200 station and mojo is working fine w/ 3.0. only thing i haven't tried is uncompressed SD ingest (component), but all else is working as advertised.
Now I am confused... On two separate install tries, on two separate PC's and two separate issues of MC3.0, the problem I get is that while device manager recognizes the analog mojo, the driver will not install. It error is that "driver could not be found," or some such message. The same happens even if I uninstall the old driver first. To complicate that, when I try the same WITH THE SAME MOJO on the mac running 3.0.1, i installs and works fine, so the Mojo must be OK. The problem remains even after an uninstall and reinstall of MC. Where is the driver located? It always has come up automatically in the past.
From the Avid Media Composer 3.0 FAQ:
Is there a software release for Mojo, Mojo SDI, Adrenaline and Symphony?
Yes, the version 3.0 software will be available for Avid Media Composer Mojo, Mojo SDI, Adrenaline and Avid Symphony Nitris – all the features of the software that are not dependent on the new hardware capabilities will be available for Mojo, Mojo SDI, Adrenaline and Symphony customers. However, at this time there remains an issue with Media Composer v3.0 on Adrenaline, Mojo and Mojo SDI on the Macintosh platform. Customers of Media Composer Adrenaline, Mojo and Mojo SDI on the Macintosh platform can upgrade to Avid Media Composer v3.0.1 (Tiger & DNA only) at this time. Right, So, rob, we're saying that all should be well on the PC as it's Macs that have the issue with FW. Are you saying something different?
> Are you saying something different?
No. Not at all. I just wanted to provide the text (and the link) that states that the original analog Mojo is officially supported with the MC3 release.
Got it...thanks.
my mojo works great with my mc 3.0 on a non qualified system with xp pro sp 3

Hi Editors:
My plain old analogue Mojo works perfectly with my qualified nw 9440 power laptop and Media Composer ver 3.0.
The thing is don't peak too early in life. Currently at MC 3.0
OK, so it SHOULD work. But on two PC's, two MC3's, and one analog Mojo it doesn't; while with the same mojo on one MBP with 3.0.1 it does. I know that it won't install the driver, but I also believe that 3.0 calls for new firmware as well, true? Well, the installs never asked for a chance to update the firmware, so could this suggest the trouble...old firmware causing the unit to look for a driver mismatch and thus remain unrecognized??? (By the way, I tried MC3 installs both with the mojo connected and with it disconnected...same failure.) IF someone at AVID thinks this could be an issue, then how can I force a firmware upgrade onto my recalcitrant Mojo if the install app won't crack the whip? I know that when I installed MC3.0 on my "big" xw8400 (dual-quad), I installed with my other mojo attached, (the SDI flavored one), and it called for a firmware update, and all was cool.

...OK. Wait a minute. Do you see the "Host" light up on the front of your recalcitrant Mojo when you plug it into your system ? If yes, then Mojo is well, if not, then Mojo is dead.
Yen, indeed; I checked, and the Host lamp is lit both when it functions properly on the Mac, and when it won't on the PC's. I also swapped FW cables. Still, device manager sees it as "Avid Technology Mojo" but with the big yellow question mark, and it continues to say "cannot install because cannot find software." (Elusive as WMD, it seems, maybe I should look under the bed for the driver.)
