Just upgraded my Lanshare EX from 4.1.5 to 4.1.6 (in preparation to use MC 3.0.1) and i can't connect to the server.
I did the upgrade on my Lanshare (Windows 2000) and then did the upgrade on my mac (Intel, dual 3ghz). Everything seemed to go okay, but when i first launched Fibre Manager on my mac, I got an error saying that the Media Networks software wasn't completely installed.
i thought that was wierd, so i looked in the install folder (downloaded from Avid page) and saw that there were drivers there for my Atto FC-42es...so i loaded them.
After doing that, i was able to lauch Fibre Manager successfully, however i couldn't connect and got the error:
i get a message that says "There was a problem connecting to the server"
I've gotten that before, and it usually means that the fibre card wasn't talking to the unity...but i looked on the back of my mac, and the lights on the Atto card's port are lit up...so i assume they're connected.
I've done these upgrades before, and never had a problem. Now, I've got no storage.
Can anyone help...please?!!

I should add, that i just checked the lanshare, and i see that as i tried to connect, i got the following error:
"Client at unsupported protocol revision 6 attempted to connect and was rejected"
not sure what this means, but hopefully it's the key to the solution....
reboot? I get that error on a lot of Mac clients. Usually it just takes a minute or two after booting up before you can log on to the Unity. I would restart the mac and then wait a couple of minutes and try to log on. And double check your user and password you are using
you got that information from the Operating System "Event Logs" under Manage (Server Side).
Go to your Applications folder (Client) and Uninstall your "Old Fiber Manager Client" then install the correctt Fiber Manager "Client" Version.
if errors still continue to happen, then you have so delete System Files Manually, if your comfortable with that then start hunting, if not.. then a Client "Clean" Re-install (OS) is needed.

Keeping in mind that I'm connecting from a Mac client to a windows server...are you saying to uninstall the Fibre Manager on the Windows Server running Lanshare??
Because, there is no uninstall on a mac. so i'm a bit confused.
thanks.
Dont touch the server.
on the Macintosh Side, there is an "Uninstaller" for the Fiber MediaNetwork use that, i maybe able to locate one on my server if you can't find it.
You have to delete all the System Files of the 4.1.5 Client Application as its conflicting with your New client Version.
I'm sorry, i just remembered, you can use the Unity Client version 4.1.5 "Installer" to "uninstall" 4.1.5 system files.
Click installer, then on a drop down menu, select "Uninstall", and it will delete all the System files on that client.
Tell me if you can't fine Unity 4.1.5 Client Installer, i can send you one.
Amazing. do i need to uninstall 4.1.6 first? or at all?
Yes, uninstall 4.1.6 and install it again, when you uninstalled 4.1.5, it also deleted some files that 4.1.6 is using...
Just to make sure that it will work this time, just uninstall both 4.1.5 and 4.1.6, reboot then install 4.1.6 then repairpermissions on /
worked like a charm! thanks a billion.
Your welcome.
