    P2 24p 60i

I am currently shooting interviews for a documentary in 1080/24p not 1080/24pa. I understand that the P2 material will only work in a 60i project unless you use something like MXFX to remove the pulldown. The client would like to have a delivered product 1080/24p.

What are the pros and cons of editing in a 60i project and getting a 1080/24p when done vs. doing the pulldown and cutting in a 23.97p project. The documentary will likely have some older b-roll in it. Would it be better then to edit in a 60i project or transcode the b-roll to fit in the 23.97p project?

Any pitfalls or benefits of doing it either way would help me avoid potential problems in the future.

    Re: P2 24p 60i

Answer your second question with a question: "how much footage is going to be B-Roll and what percentage of that B-Roll was acquired interlace versus being a film to tape transfer?

You can always take a 60i master with 2:3 pulldown in it and do what is called a "cadence align at the end of the process. While this works, the edit points which have broken cadence will have some artifcacts such as belended frames or 1/2 vertical resolution, etc.

Depending on the percentage of B-Roll, you might consider nagtive 23.976 and convert B-Roll to 23,976 before capture. But that might get costly if there is a lot of footage.
