My rolling credits in my 1080p 23.98 fps project are strobe and stutter. Is this the way they really look or do I need to do something in addition to what I do in a 30i project? Should I encourage my client not to use the rolling credits? Should I do them in After Effects instead?
Any help is much appreciated. thanks.

24 progressive frame rolls are stuttery in general.
Haven't you ever noticed it in the theater?
Try for cards, that's the safest. They won't go for that, put a slight vertical blur on them, that will help a bit. What we generally do is replace the end roll on the 30 frame downconvert.

Yes I do know cinema is more stuttery than 30i, but I'm not sure I remember it being this bad.
When you say replace the end roll -- how? I'm preparing a documentary finished in 30i to go to an HDCAM 24p transfer. I'm making a DigiBeta of the show, textless at the end, which another house will run through a converter box to the HDCAM. They've asked me to redo the end roll in a 1080p 23.98 project, which they will replace. As I built it and looked at it... well, that's when I posted. I'll try the vertical blur, and then see if AE would work better, but if you have any more suggestions, I'd love to hear.
The speed of the roll also affects it. Play around with the speed to reduce it.

Oh, you are going the opposite direction. Just make the end roll in AE and send it to them. It is what it is at this point. It will look a lot sharper than the rest of the uprezzed SD stuff though.
