I am deleting old projects from our Avid Media Composer and sometimes when I load the Media Tool, no files show up even though the media is clearly online. I've tried deleting the database files, and letting Avid scan to rebuild. That has usually fixed the problem in the past, but is not currently doing the trick everytime with every project. Any suggestions?
How about File>Load Media Database, and File>refresh media directories after a database rebuild?

Just tried that and still notihng when I load Media Tool.
Are you certain that the media is associated with the project you are displaying? Does it not show up if you show all projects in the Media Tool display settings?
Do you really want to know what's wrong...or do you just want me to fix it?

Does the project not show up in the Media Tool display? Yes, it does. I'm not sure what else the media would be associated with.
No, what I am asking is, if you choose "All Projects" when you are opening the MT, does the media you are missing show up then?
Yes it does. The project names had been changed. Now that I'm aware of it, I see the new project names as well as the old project names in the MT display. That seems to be the issue.
Do you think project names shouldn't be changed, or can be changed, you just have to remember to select the old name when going through Media Tool?
There is a free app on this page called Media Database Viewer..

It is awesome, and I've used it to sort media when the media tool has sometimes failed me.

Yes, I have MDV. It's fabulous. Though, it also displays the old project name after in scans. Do you know why it doesn't scan the pmr files in the MXF folders?
When you change a project name, you must keep in mind that all media captured or imported before the project name change remains linked to the old project name. All media captured or imported after the name change will be linked to the new name. So when it's time to delete, you will need to run the media tool for both project names to delete (or display) all associated media.
Regrettably MDV is currently OMF only. It does not read MXF databases or files.

I'm pretty certain MDV reads MXF files. Make sure you have one of the latest versions.

It certainly does work with MXF, make sure you have the lastet version. You might be confusing it with Media Mover that doesn't work with MXF, or the last version I had of it didn't.
I first downloaded MDV because it supported MXF media as well as OMF. I was previously using MediaSift, but that could only handle OMF.
