I'm experiencing very slow performance in opening/saving bins and making edit changes while connected to our Unity using Fibre Manager 4.2.3 (and whatever version of Unity goes along with that)... We're on Mac Dual 2.7's/ OS 10.4.11 and Media Composer 2.8.3. I've been cutting at home on a very underpowered laptop on a local G-drive and it's blazingly fast compared to being at work. Are there things to look for that our tech support people aren't thinking of?
Thanks.
Brian

It just seems slower than I'm used to on Unity... maybe I have to go back to not sharing the project...
Research the Difference of File chuck from Unity -4.1.5 to 4.2.3+ and you'll understand
You are not alone. I have posted about this a while back as the slowness is substantial. Do you have a lot of bins MC is trying to manage and track? FYI, 4.2.3. is blazing compared to ISIS.
Thanks for commiserating. It's a feature film with a 'normal' amount of bins- and all but a couple closed at a time... Usually I like to keep all my reels open so I can jump around, but it'd take forever to save- and I have it saving very often because of the bus errors! (though they've mellowed lately for some reason).
You know, maybe the slowness is compounded by the G5s. Do you have a chance to test an Intel on your Unity? You will have workspace scanning issues going between the computers, but it might be worth a test. Also, what version of Unity are you comparing against? Did you just start the project on 4.2.3 or is it an upgrade?
