Can someone please give this a try. I have turned on segment drag sync lock in the timeline settings tab but when I move a clip in the timeline in splice-in mode it doesn't add black to maintain sync. I know this worked up to the previous version. Any thoughts? I have tried new user settings...trashed mc states...hmmm. It will swap edits but that is not what I want. I need to leave filler.
thanks, deditster
Hi,
Maybe I'm not understanding, but isn't that what's supposed to happen with Segment Splice-In? Segment Overwrite would leave filler.
Can you post before and after screenshots to show what's happening?
good luck,Carl
There is no such thing as a video emergency. My Demo Website
The problem is that it is not leaving filler or the hole where say clip 1 was. it is closing the gap and all clips down the timeline are slipping out of sync. I select clip A and want to move it four clips down. older version I move it leaves filler and then pushes all clips after clip A down maintaining sync. Now it doesn't leave the filler closes the gap and all clips after clip A get slipped.and it is almost like the sync lock track selector is not responding. Are you on the latest version 3.0.1 mac? If not you might not be experiencing this. it might be a bug. How do you reprt bugs to avid?
My friend was just asking me about this. Does anyone have an answer yet?
I never use sync locks but I just tried the following:
- Activate Sync lock in the Timeline
- In the Timeline Settings, under Edit, activate "Segment Drag Sync Locks"
- In an existing sequence, with Yellow segment mode, move a clip from V2 to V1
I've tried this on both an SN 1.8 and on MC 3.0 (both PC versions), and on the SN 1.8, it works as expected (it adds filler to the other tracks to maintain sync), whereas on MC 3.0, it appears to ignore the Segment Drag Sync Locks option, and it causes V1 to go out of sync.
So I'd definitely say something's wrong here, and not just on the Mac.
I've sent this thread to escalation to see if they can reproduce the problem and figure out what's going on. I'm going on vacation later today, but I let BLKDOG know what's going on. If we hear anything, we'll post it back on this thread.
Job, thanks for testing it out.
adios,Carl
thanks for the posts. so it's not me. Will have to wait.

Segment mode sync lock not working!!!!
IT IS TRUE!
I use this command a lot, and for some reason now "vanished"
It's really a bug! I used MC 3.0 on a MAC System and was surprised, what happened with my timeline....Bloody hell!
The same error exists also on Windows systems, from which I made the following sreenshots:
Timeline Settings:
Before Drag & Drop:
After Drag and Drop:
I hope that Avid will fix the bug shortly ... Please, Please, Please !!!!!!

A temporary solution of the problem is the following approach:1. In the timeline settings deactivate "Segment Drag Sync Locks"
2. In contrast to the usual approach mark all segments (also the empty) before shifting, which are to remain synchronous.
3. Now shift the segments to the final position. Pay attention to the music track. He is not marked and although the tracks are coupled the new position of the segments only depends on what is marked.

This is a bug in 2.8.4 as well.
I have the same problem. Seems really odd and very frustrating as I have just upgraded from Avid Xpress Pro and it was one of the features I was hoping to use. Also, I cant seem to be able to zoom/expand into the timeline using the up and down arrow keys on Media compoer 3.0. Can anyone help?
thanks

Yes, open your Keyboard settings and your Command Pallette. Choose to map menus to buttons. Click on th up arrow, then click on the hamburger menu in the lowe left corner of the timeline and find the zoom in option (also known as CTRL+[ ), then do the same for the down arrow and choose zoom out ( CTRL-] )
Also I think MC3 comes with an XpressPro Keyboard configuration which you can activate.
thanks! It worked
Whilst we're on that subject, can we have a different color for Splice Mode? It currently uses the same color as "Show marked region" and it was much better to see it clearly with the vivid fushia in pre 3.0.
Also, some folks coming from XPress (not me though) don't like the fact that you exit the Splice mode by clicking on the TC track. Maybe a new Timeline option could be added to please all of us?
