effects on top of pan and zoom

     Hallew

I have recently discovered the pan and zoom effect and it seems to working fine. Could someone tell me if it's possible to add further effects on top of the pan and zoom effect? There are many stills I would like to superimpose other images on top of, but it doesn't appear to be working. Am I missing something?

Do I have to do a video mixdown possibly and add the other effect to the mixdown?

    Thanks

Select the clip in segment mode - then hold alt and double click the effect you want to add that will nest your effects.

Or, ALT + drag the new effect on top of the P & Z.

...or, step into the clip and just drag the effect onto the "inside" layer - gotta love Avid - so many ways to skin the cat.

Re: effects on top of pan and zoom

I have tried stepping into the clip and adding the effect that way, but it hasn't worked for me. I will try the other two suggestions on the moro and report back.

    Thank you!

Re: effects on top of pan and zoom

Stepping in to a clip will nest the new effect underneath (constrained by) the original one. ALT + dragging will nest the new effect on top of the original one. It's a matter of what priority of order you want the effects to be.

Re: effects on top of pan and zoom

It seems that holding down ALT and dragging the effect onto the clip with the pan and zoom effect works!

Stepping in and holding down ALT and dragging does't work. Don't know why not, but am happy that one of the options works.

So, thanks for the help. Smile

Re: effects on top of pan and zoom

When you step into an effect, you can drag another effect to the clip. Now, while still inside the nest you can ALT drag a third effect on top of the second effect, which is nested underneath the first effect. Furthermore, you can continue to step into nested effects, I think down to 24 layers, if I'm not mistaken.
