I am using Xpress Pro (v5.6.4) to create sequences that are essentially compilation reels of shots.
As I lay off each sequence to a compilation reel, I would like to get a printout of the data associated with the clips that make up that sequence (ie time in, time out and clip name) so that I can stick this log with the tape and hand it over to the client.
Does anyone know how I can get that info out of Avid? At the moment if we try to get out an EDL it's in no-way a user friendly format and would have to be completely manually reformatted.
I'm happy to get it out as a .txt file and reformat it, provided I'm not having to reformat on a line by line basis as each comp reel will have hundreds of shots, and we are talking about more than a hundred hours of rushes.
All suggestions welcome as no-one I know is familiar with EDLs or trying to get this info.
I think a decompose and print bin for each sequence would work. Put a copy of the sequence in it's own bin, decompose it and then print the bin with appropriate headings. Not sure if this is most efficient but it will work.
I just realised that this won't get you all the info you need - sorry... but maybe it will get the juices flowing..........
Hi,
You could also just set the bin display to show reference clips, but neither this or a decompose will show the in time and out time of the clips in the sequence with the sequence timecode, which is what Phil needs to make a log.
You can show the in time and out time of the clips, but that's the in time and out time of the clip timecode, not the sequence timecode.
I don't think there's an easy way (other than an EDL) to do what Phil's asking. I know it's been asked for on here before, and I don't remember a good solution.
good luck,Carl
There is no such thing as a video emergency. My Demo Website
Yeah i realised that as shortly after i posted
Thanks guys, but yes, all those get me is the clip timecode, not the sequence timecode. Appreciate your thoughts, though.
