I want to go back to 2.8, I was trying to work with pro tools and 2.8. For some reason even though it is simple math pro tools was creating an AFF export that MC could understand. The timeline would load, all the audio files were offline, I imported all the audio files into the project. Went to play it and it was all the same audio file linked to every clip.
I had a solution, but time consuming or so i thought until I tried to upgrade to fix my problem.
My solution. Look at the sequence in pro tools then rebuild it in MC. In about 2 hours I had about two out of three hours built.
Then I logged on to here and started reading about MC 3.0, and protools updates. I loaded MC 3.0 and updated Pro tools to 7.31 ptle731cs6_44399.
And guess what, Pro tools is asking for windows XP SP3 and Avid wants SP2.
I guess the real reason Avid dumped Avid Express Pro Studio Complete is because they gave up on Pro Tools and Avid working togeather on the same computer.
Neither program is happy now. MC does not see my digi 002, Pro Tools tells me I have a time stamp error and will not run, I tried to uninstall it but It tells me to upgrade my windows XP on the uninstall.
I restored Windows XP to the date before I tried to upgrade and now both programes still do not run.
If I reinstall MC 2.8 Am I going to have issues with my dongle which I updated to 3.0?
How do I reinstall Pro tools when I cant uninstall it ?
Looks like I am going to have to wipe windows and start from scratch just so I can get back to where I was before I tried to upgrade. Then I have 3 days of creating eight pro tools sessions in MC 2.8 . I will have lost a week just to do something Avid was suposed to do automaticly.
Your dongle is perfectly backwards compatible.
If it helps your situation at all, Avid should be qualifying SP3 very shortly. A lot of users here have already loaded it and are reporting no problems whatsoever. IF you feel adventurous, maybe loading SP3 could help you out?

I have been able to get back to where I was. 2.8 MC and 7.31 cs1. I don't understand why the option to link to existing media option is grayed out in the pro tools export menue. It only allows consolidate from source media. I do that and all the media comes into the avid folder when I import the sequence exported from Pro Tools. But the audio files are all off line. I don't get it. The audio files are sitting right there.
Don't understand the point of the way this software functions. Is there a way to export an edl. Is this what the text file function is?
