Exporting Avid files as Quicktime PhotoJPEG or DV or MotionJPEG

I'm trying to export my Avid clips to a firm called Revostock who require the files to be encoded as Quicktime PhotoJPEG or Quicktime DV or Quicktime MotionJPEG, preferably the former.

Avid has a wealth of export options and I've been unable to navigate through them to achieve my goal as above.  Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

    Hi,

I'm not in front of a machine at the moment, but once you've got the export dialog box up click Options and then inside that dialog box change your export type to Quicktime Movie, and then select Custom to bring up the dialog box that allows you to change the codec.  I'm not sure about PhotoJPEG or MotionJPEG, but I'm certain that DV is a choice.

Sorry that's a bit vague, but it's from memory.

    good luck,
    Carl

Thank you Carl for trying to help.  I've already tried your suggestion and all seems to go well until I play the resulting .mov file.  The movement is jerky for some reason, which I do not understand

    Hi,

How big is the resulting file?  It may be that the file is fine, but it's too big to play smoothly on your machine.  Could you try sending a small clip to your client for them to test to make sure it works?

    good luck,
    Carl

Yes - I'll try that.  Anyway, thanks to your original suggestion, I've explored the Avid Export options a lot more and have succeeded in getting a file accepted by Revostock - so all seems to now be well - and I've got a lot more Avid Export options to explore as well.

Thank you again - you've made my day and solved a problem for me that has been driving me round the bend for several days - Michael
