Losing projects when upgrading to MC

     Hello,

I am currently upgrading to MC from Xpress pro.  I have a few projects I am saving in my Xpress pro that I don't want to lose.  How can I make sure I don't delete them when I upgrade to MC?  I understand that it is best to uninstall Xpress Pro, before installing MC.  Won't I lose those projects then?  Any advice would be much appreciated.

Save your projects on an external device - like a thumb drive or hard drive or even a CD. Once you upgrade, you can copy the bins from those projects into new projects you create on MC. Everything will work fine.

    Good Luck

    Hi Moses,

Your media files will not be lost during an upgrade.  Follow the instructions in the ReadMe file and any other instructions that came with your download or in the box, and you'll be fine.

    good luck,
    Carl

No they won't, since the Avid install isn't writing to your media drives.

    Job ter Burg:

Job is right. Now that I think about it, I did replace the projects during a recent upgrade. No problems at all. But I definitely would copy the projects off before doing the upgrade, and remove them and all other avid files from your system drive before upgrading

    Good Luck

Re: Losing projects when upgrading to MC

I do regular back-ups of my Avid projects folder to a seperate physical drive. Before doing anything with upgrading I always make a back-up of my Avid projects and Avid users folders, just in case. Uninstalling and installing Avid usually leaves these files alone.
