I just want to verify before I buy anything.
Avid describes the Quadro FX 3700 in their Dell T5400 qualified setup as the following: "nVidia Quadro FX3700 Dual 512MB PCIe x16, Quad Monitor DVI."
Dell describes the Quadro FX 3700 on their site as "512MB PCIe x16 nVidia Quadro FX3700, Dual Monitor DVI Capable"
What's up with the dual 512MB and the quad monitor display? There seems to be two versions of the same card - does nvidia sell two versions of the 3700? Is one place wrong or am I just very, very confused in how I'm reading this stuff. Dell has a Quadro FX 1700 that may be what Avid's talking about. I assume there's only one 3700 and ordering it is fine, but it's a lot of money so I just want to verify. Any idea? Thanks.
Not sure about the discrepancies, but here's a good price on a the card ...

The FX 3700's I've seen are dual-headed (two DVIs). But apparently there is a way to run and link two of these cards in the same box, although I believe it is unnecessary for MC.

Thanks. Maybe it's just a mistake in Avid's t5400 guidelines? Here's the link to the specifications: http://avidtechnology.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/avidtechnology.cfg/php/enduser/fattach_get.php?p_sid=*6e5aO7j&p_li=&p_accessibility=0&p_redirect=&p_file_id=4632&p_tbl=9&p_id=75924&p_created=1213694354&p_olh=0
Does anyone know if Avid means get 2 quadro 3700s or just one 3700?
The only time that I've seen a reference to dual cards is when Michael Williams commented that he'd tried it at one stage and it seemed to work, but that it was not officially supported.
So the short answer is, if you want to spend the money, go ahead. But you don't need to. It is not an Avid requirement.
