I have recently re installed my entire system. (windows... composer... ect.) Now I am trying to connect a DSR-11 to composer and I cannot get it to reconize that something is connected via firewire.
I configure the deck but it continues to have italisized text and says that there is no deck.

Think for yourself... but take heed of those you have thought before you.
Can windows see the deck as a FW device? If not, I believe there is a menu option to enable 1394 out (Sony may label it as iLink).
Do you really want to know what's wrong...or do you just want me to fix it?

Hey thanks for your comment. Windows does reconize the device and it works in Vegas, Movie maker, ect.
I read from another post that Windows media play may be able to take control of the FW device. Also one of my ports on the computer is not working at all now. Is there a way to take back control of the FW device from XP.
Thanks Again!
No worries. I re installed the program for the third time but this time I removed everything including Plug-ins and the files avid leaves in the install folder. Once re installed I copied my settings back into avid and all was well with the world.
