Hi,

No, there was no break. I just deleted that clip because I didn't need it.

BLKDOG: So, I can't see what tapes these clips are associated with but, are you saying that the the "Cyrial Wed Bin 7 tape does NOT have an 18 our TC on it?

Here is the whole thing:
Ok,
I don't know if anyone is still reading - but, I realize the discrepency with the timecode. My camera is showing it as free run- but the timcecode on avid is set to record run. So, the timecode on avid is showing the time of day when I shot, yet the camcorder is showing timecode starting at 00;00;00;00. I tried to set the camera to record run - but, it is not changing the timecode.
Is it feasible to copy youre tapes to a new tapes with continuous record run timecode?

But, am I going to have to match the timecode that I actually filmed it at? I spent the day filming. There has got to be a way to translate the avid record run timecode to free run.
I am trying to do a batch capture. The capture was not finding the preroll, then I realized a discrepency with the timecode. Is there a way to translate the record run to free run on avid - so it can locate the media for the batch capture.
Or is there is any other way you may know of, please enlighten me, as I have lost all the media for a project - I have the timeline finished, with no media.
thanks,
todd
{MOD EDIT} I've joined this post to the existing thread regarding this problem. Please don't start a new topic, Todd. It's easier to sort things out if all the background information and troubleshooting steps that have already been taken are in one thread.

Hi Todd,
Are you saying that while playing a tape out of your camera into Media Composer, one timecode is showing on the camera's TC display, while a different one is showing in the Capture Tool's timecode display (the little green TC display)?
Or are you saying that the timecode that was captured and is showing in your Media Composer bins doesn't match the timecode that is showing on the tapes when you try and batch capture them?
MovieMaker76:Is there a way to translate the record run to free run on avid - so it can locate the media for the batch capture.
This is the part that's throwing me off. Media Composer doesn't make a distinction about how the timecode was recorded (free run or record run). Whatever timecode is on the tape when you're capturing it, that's the timecode Media Composer uses.
Try this. Put one of the tapes you're trying to batch capture into your camera or deck, and manually go to the start timecode of one of the clips you need to batch capture. Then select the clip in the bin and select Batch Capture and see if Media Composer will recognize that the clip is cued up and will capture it.

I have been readnig through this and suspect that when the original capture was performed that the timecode button in the capture panel was not highlighted, thus he did not capture timecode from the tape.
Is it possible that you captured at different times of the day ??? Maybe some clips very early in the morning and others in the evening ???
Regards
Mark

Mark,
You hit the nail on the head. I just thought of that about 20 minutes ago, and was about to post, but you beat me to the punch.
The reason I deselect TC, is that the capture aborts a lot, even though I have play through TC breaks selected.
TO ALL, (especially blkdog)
THANK YOU for helping. I learned a lot - and I am going to just recaputre and start from scratch and use this as a HUGE learning experience.
Sincerely,Todd

That sucks, Todd, but at least you're looking on the bright side.
Yes, good luck. So sorry we couldn't give you a better outcome.
Do you really want to know what's wrong...or do you just want me to fix it?

I was thinking this yesterday but I didn't get a chance to post as I had to get to a meeting. Good call editzz01 !!
So my new wife asks me about my "Avid Forever" tattoo... I told her she's an old girlfriend who was always coming up with new things for me to try...
That really sucks Todd, I was sincerely hoping that I was wrong. Good luck recapturing and rebuilding...hopefully it will go well for you.
Best regards
