OH MY GOSH!!!!
One problem leads to another and to another....
ok, I was setting up this raid 0 array in my computer.
Long story - short.
I wiped out one of my hard drives. NOW, I have files I needed on there - so I bought (69.99) software Easeus - to recover the files.
It did.
But now, I can't open any of them - they say "this file is invalid for the following: security catalog? I can't open these .cat files. I have tries some downloads - but they have failed.
Seriously my friends, I have been up all night / have had fits.
Help me please.
Drive recovery is a 50/50 proposition. If you absolutely have stuff on there that is irretrievable, you may want to send the drive to a recovery service but, as Obi Wan once said to Luke "You'll have to sell your speeder...."

But it recovered the files. I saw them as they were recovered - mxf files. But, now they are all in this .cat name - There has to be a way to open them.
That's the problem with the MXF wrapper. IF it gets damaged, it's kinda tough to rebuild. Is the media such that you can't recapture?
There has to be a simple exlanation. It is not just the mxf files, i cannot open anything. So there must be some kind of way to open them.
Well all I can tel you is that I've had two occasions to try disc recovery software. The first went pretty well, lost a few files but got most back. The second was a disaster. lost everything. Files were created but could not open them.
If ya find a way, let us know.
yes, i can recapture, but, I have editied the project for about 20 hours now. It was almost done.
So recapturing won't affect your cut.....As long as you still have your sequence, batch capture either the clips or the sequence itself and it will all be back.
I do have the sequence still. But, how will it know how to pull the files / where to pull the files.
Ah the Magic that is Avid...from what sources did your media come?
I am not familiar with the program that you used to recover the files, but I have had great success with R-Studio in the past - it is easy to use and everything that it managed to see it was able to recover without issue.
I had them all on an internal drive. But, I wiped the drive out - by prematurely formatting it. But, I saved the sequence on my external drive.
So, should I capture to a certain drive?
O no, you had QT files on that drive too?
Do you not have backups of the movies?
Two things I always do...have at least one backup of my source material and never put that source material and my media files on the same drive.
no, all my media is gone.
just says media offline when i enter the project. but the timeline and sequence is intact. my bins all have the names but w/ out media
Understood but that media had to come from someplace......
and I'm taking from you that the Movies you imported to create that media were on the same drive? Were they no where else?
