Ok, then we crossed wires somewhere here. I though you were telling me that your files came in Anamorphic with that setting.

So, then your only choice would be Avid FX. This will let you work with the entire resolution of the file and pan/Scan/Zoom without losing quality.

Here's what I need. This is a grab from Premiere showing that the clip imports and maintains it's native frame size.

Yep, you need Avid FX or AE to do that in the Avid software.

Nope...they are resized to 720 x 480 no matter which import setting.

Yep...trouble is, that isn't doing it "in the Avid Software". I tend to gravitate to where I can eliminate steps, not increase them. But that's just me...Big Smile

Just so we're clear...Do you have Avid FX?

If so, you aren't adding any steps, it's just a plug you drop onto the segment. I haven't used this feature yet but I have read about it. Seems like the same thing you are doing in Premier.

    Nope...we use AE.

Nope...just import the clip and drag it to the timeline. Happens natively w/o need for plug-ins. I know that FCP, Liquid, Vegas and Edius can do this as well.

Yes and it has been a feature request here for a long time.

The nice thing about the Avid FX plug is, you don't even have to import the clip if you don't want to. You can just drop the plug onto filler and point it to the QT on your HD. Saves a lot of time.

Sounds good. I was under the impression that FX was only available in the Studio Toolkit version...which we weren't keen to shell out for. I remember that it's primarily Boris Red integrated into the Avid workspace. Is it available seperately? Also, what is going to happen to the Studio ancillary apps now that Xpress is going away?

Ahh...just read that BCC and Avid FX are bundled with MC. Wonder what's going to happen to Avid 3D?
