How do you pull down the audio sample clock when capturing from DV?

    Hi to all,

This is probably an easy question but I'm going to ask it anyway. I am capturing from DV with a firewire cable and I have my deck armed, selected V1,A1,A2, click Cap. and Log. I always get this message "You may not capture audio and video together unless the audio sample clock is pulled down". I cannot find the audio sample clock, therefore I cannot pull it down. How to I get to have my video and audio capture at the same time. I had it working in Avid MC 2.8.3 and now I am running Avid MC 3.0. Can someone help me fix this bugger or tell me if you had the same problem when capturing from DV and a firewire cable.

I am not getting this issue when using the OS Vista Basic, is anyone getting it PROBLEM on MAC OS 10.5.3 LEOPARD ? PLEASE LET ME KNOW IF YOU HAVE A SOLUTION BECAUSE I VISTA ISN'T RELIABLE AS MY MAC

    Thanks for your help

Re: How do you pull down the audio sample clock when capturing from DV?

In the Film and 24P settings there is a setting to change pulldown from advanced to standard.  As far as I know the only way to set only the audio for pulldown is when you are capturing audio and video seperately and there is a pulldown button in the capture tool.  But I haven't used 3.0 so maybe something has changed

Are you in a 24p project type? AFAIK, you cannot perform audio pulldown when the source is digital (SDI, firewire, AES, etc).

In 23.976p project type, no audio pulldown is necessary during capture.

I was in 24p and when I changed it to 23.976 it seems to work, thanks.

I shot from a Panasonic DVX100A in 24P, will I lose sync, while using 23.976 instead of 24? Is there another format I should use, like 30i? When I use 30i it seems like I am losing sync, can you please confirm if this is correct. Thanks for answering my basic questions but I am a new self-taught video editor.

    Thanks a bunch!

Re: How do you pull down the audio sample clock when capturing from DV?

DVX100 always shoot and records in 23.976p and not 24p (what film cameras shoot at). Unfortunately, 23.976p is often short handed to 24p. They are in the same family but not exactly the same.

23.976p NTSC is the right project type for DVX100 "24p" mode.

Also make sure you have the proper pulldown settings (Film and 24p). Depending how your camera is set, it is either Advance or Standard.

00:00:00:00 is always the A Frame.
