    Colr correction with MC 3.0

I’m new to Media Composer and trying do some color correction testing in SD and HD. First off in my composer windows I’m unable to change them from current and reference video to any of the waveform, RGB parade or quad displays.  Also I’m unable to see any color changes in real time and can only view them after rendering.  I know I’m missing something simple but just can’t figure out what.

    Thanks

make sure "render on the fly" is checked. It's in one of the drop down menus, maybe "Clip", I don't exactly remember and I'm not in front of my avid right now.
