    International warranty

    Hi everyone,

I'm about to buy a Mojo Sdi to replace my analog one, and I was wondering about international warranty. All Avid product come with a one-year warranty, but does it work only in the country of origin? I work mainly in the UK and in France, if my Mojo breaks down whilst I'm not in the country where I bought it, can I get it fixed localy or will I have to get it back home first?

At home: MacBookPro 2.5Ghz, 4Gig Mem, Mojo At work: MacPro 2.6Ghz, 3.5Gig mem, Mojo SDi [view my complete system specs]

    Re: International warranty

My thought would be to contact Avid and ask them directly their position.

I believe, however, that the warranty only applies in the country of purchase - for example you cannot buy electronics in Japan, use them in the U.S. - then if they break down have the item covered by the warranty.

Too many of these items fall under 'grey market' were the item is legitimate (not off the back of a lorry, albeit sometimes at those prices) but the warranty does not apply. Even though you purchased from a dealer.

Bottom line - Avid is the only place to give you a solid answer... there may be some who have had this situation occur, but depending on the circumstances don't take that as canon.

My guess would be that European legislation will make any supplier to provide support in Europe on purchases made in the EU. But I'm no lawyer.
