Hi
I'm testing 1080/23.976 AVC Intra media 100 (P2) with MC3 on a Dual 2.8GHz Quadcore Mac Pro with No Avid hardware. The media imports and plays fine. The problem I have is that it will not render effects. I get this error "This resolution type is not supported in this model of Media Composer"
Render media settings are set to DNX175X
Is this a bug?
Cheers
Try DNX 145 or 220 instead.

Tried all available DNX resolutions all give the same error.
Ok, well let's check to make sure you have the right project type then.
AVC-Intra 100 1080/29.97p (native) work in 1080p/29.97 projectAVC-Intra 100 1080/23.98p (native) work in 1080p/23.976 project
Which of these matches your situation?
Avid Singapore have confirmed that this is a bug.
Thanks anyway
WHAT!? ...this is quite the bug. Something I'm meant to be editing on MC3 is about to be shot on the AVC 100 codec.
can someone confirm/deny this please?
p.s. ...does the image quality look nice? compared to say 16mm HDCAM transfer or RED / DVCPro ?
I'm going to ask about this today. With all due respect to our friends in Singapore, if you couldn't render any effects with AVC Media, I would think that would have come up during Beta...
Be back when I know.
So, after contacting Avid, it definitely has been reported and verified as a bug. Can't believe it wasn't caught earlier.
The bug is on the fast track to be fixed and should be out in an update due to be released in Q3.

This is a pretty big bug. "Q3" represents a lot of time. Is Symphony affected as well?
Andy
From what I understand, yes. I was kinda shocked too. Q3's actually just a couple months away so, hopefully it won't be that long.
I have to thing there must be more to this bug than we're seeing here 'cause "Won't Render" at all seems to be a pretty big flaw to miss.
Well on the Media Composer 3 product page, in the supported codecs part, after AVC, it does indeed say 'no render' ....so it's not like they didnt tell us
True.
Right, I presume transcoding to DNX and then trying to render the effect works ?
In which case, use DNX whenever on any clip which requires an effect (or just put whole thing into DNX, horrible transcode time wasting, but it'll get the job done.)
Toby
Transcoding or creating a video mixdowns works ; in fact you can render effects using the render effect button as long as there is only one video track implyed in the effect (Blend and key effect can't be rendered). The render menu entry will do nothing...
Moreover, you can't export at all AVC-I sequences (creating a TGA sequence will display the same message).
Someone knows when this will be fixed?

Hey guys
I don't see this addressed in 3.0.5. I was hoping it would be, now that we're in Q4. Anybody know anything?
Thanks
