    NO DECK

I'm trying to capture footage and for some reason Avid can't see my deck.

I was recently digitzing footage from an HDV camera into a different project, now I've switched back to the deck (Sony DSR-11 NTSC) for a seperate project.

I've checked all my connections and powered down, unhooked everything and put everything back.  I've even tried a new project & new user name.  I've tried trashing all my settings files and mcstate & re-starting avid.  I've even tried re-registering the 'ol dvbuffers.ax scenario.  What do I have to do to get Avid to read the deck again?

HERE'S THE STEPS I TOOK:  I go to Deck Configuation, I "Add Channel".  It says Channel Type: Firewire (no port), so I hit OK.  It then ask me if I want to autoconfigure, I select "No".  I then select "Add Deck" and select Sony DSR-11 NTSC.  I hit Apply, the pull up my Capture Tool.

Video & Audio say "Host-1394".  I have the Video and Audio channels selected.  But "NO DECK".  I try to select Autofigure, then I get this error:  "Auto-configure will not be successful because "" is currently not selected  Please select "" before auto-configuring this channel.

    What is ""?

Any idea on how to get Avid to read this deck?

    Many thanks for your help!

    Re: NO DECK

    Hi,

If you haven't already, try clicking "Check Decks" from the drop-down menu in the Capture Tool.  If that doesn't work, does the computer recognize the deck when you plug it in and turn it on?

    good luck,

    Re: NO DECK

You should select firewire on iee1394 or DNA if you have a Mojo analoge, port none will mean... well.... on no port Smile

    Re: NO DECK

Actually Menno, you have to make it "firewire on 1394" - can't do HDV through the Mojo (at least I can't) unless you're downconverting to SD. It also matters what order you turn things on. I think I have to boot the computer first then have the deck connected before launching Avid but at the moment I can't test that.

    Re: NO DECK

    Thanks, everyone.

I changed my Port from "no port" to "OHCI" and it worked.

It's always one button, ain't it?

    Thanks for your help.
