Hi
We have MC 3.0 with Adrenaline and when you are search thru footage it starts off playing at fast speeds then freezes and does frame updates very second or so not much fun to work with
What video card and driver? Did you follow the instructions in the ReadMe, "Setting up the nVidia card"?
"Saving the world, one Avid at a time"
Yes I read the update instructions and installed the new driver I think this XW8400 has a FX1500 as speced by Avid here in NZ
I installed MC3.0 on XW8400 with FX1500 4GB Ram and a digi mojo and the same effect happens - starts to shuttle then freezes then after a few seconds it shuttles again...... meaning you skip shots in footage
It sounds like your drives are not fast enough. What have you got for media drives? Switch off the audio scrub and see if that helps.
Adrenaline 1.8.1Symphony Nitris 1.8.1
Thx EB
This is off 4 stripped 146GB Media drives it is not a drive problem as after the freeze it shuttles normally. Audio scrub is off
You definitely have something slowing your system down. I'll spell out what I'd do next, but if it's too simple or obvious, I apologise. I don't what your PC skills or knowledge are.
Try this: launch the task manager (Ctrl-Alt-Del) while Avid is running but not doing anything and click on the preformance tab. You should see a collection of graphical displays that correspond to the number of processor cores your computer has. They should all be sitting at near zero. If they aren't you have something running in the background that's stealing CPU cycles from Avid.
What you do next depends on how competent you are at dealing with Windows. If you can track down the rogue task or service, go for it. If not you may want to call in technical help.
No rogue apps running, I think it is something todo with the graphics card

A few more questions:
What video format and resolution are you using?
How many video tracks? which RT video effects (if any)?
What video playback mode (e.g. Y/G, G/G, 10-bit)?
What audio bit-depth and sample rate are you using?
How many audio tracks? which RT audio effects (if any)?
Does it cycle through play / freeze multiple times in one shuttle play?
Did this ever happen in an earlier version of MC with the same system / media?

All I am doing is replaying DV foootage at 420 resolution with 2 audio tracks at 48k sampling and just watching the wild footage so no effects. it only freezes at the about 3 seconds into footage then everything is fine
Same problem here.
In my case I have this problem also with 1 video track of 15:1s media, without any effects and even without any audio. After few sec of freezing it gets back to life and then it can run in X200 without any problems untill the next time I stop and start again.
Normal playback is OK! even on complex sequences with 4-8 audio tracks and 4 video tracks.
Everything was working without problems on the same system from ver 2.5 till 2.8.3
I am using a Geforce 6800GT card. Yes I know it is not a Quadro, but it worked great till now.
I have tried so far few drivers for my Geforce. All the same results.
PegasusNV, Dor,
Thanks for the info.
Are you playing in G/G 8-bit mode?
What is the G/G 8bit mode?
The same is on SOFTWARE (without the MOJO)
Sorry about the short-hand notation.
I am referring to the playback mode in the timeline.
I have just tested again 15:1s single video track with no audio
Y/Y
Y/G
G/G
All this modes has the problem on my side
