People were spending more time attacking me then answering. Is it the time of year? All I want (and i suspect a lot of others want also) are some field reports on this machine. And, once again, here we are NOT talking about the Nitris. Can someone please talk about the Nitris?

Guy...two of us have reported our use to you. I'd be happy to answer any questions you have, and have told you same in that other thread.

Or are you just looking for a quorum?

I was hoping for a few responses from different perspectives... I remember then the DVX2000 came out and everyone was so psyched then it turned out to have these awful audio issues. Then the JVC HDV 720p camera came out and it had this horrid split screen... these and many other examples make me worry about new technology in our industry so I was just hoping to get some more discussion about the Nitris from users before I spend almost $20k on the package.

    Re: Nitris DX

Andrew, I don't blame you for wanting actual user feedback before you drop a lot of money on it, but I suggest that you'll need another 3 to 4 weeks of user test drives before it's been out there long enough to shake it out and see what the real, long term operational stability and reliability proves out to be. I just don't think its been used long enough to tell yet.

Agreed and there are other threads going like "ow is 3.0 Holding Up?" that may shed some light as well.

    Re: Nitris DX

As a new DX user I'll chime in here.

On first impression, the DX is a winner. I had 5 streams of DNXHD playing realtime something the Adrenaline could never dream of doing. The Boris Red FX renders seem much quicker too.

Compared to the Adrenaline with the HD card, the DX is smaller and 1 rack unit less. On the DX we lost an extra SDI output connection but gained an HDSDI input. There is no longer a separate reference and Tri-level reference input. You can feed either type to the one ref input. Only one component output. The component output is selectable between SD and HD. DX has HDMI out instead of the older DVI out on the AdrenalineHD.

Setup on the DX was a breeze. Drop PCIe card in CPU and connect the PCIe cable to DX and your off!

Included in the DX box: DX unit, PCIe card, PCIe cable, power cord, 2 SDI cables, 2 component cables, 2 1/4 audio cables, 1 S video cable, 1 rs232 to 422 kit, 1 keyspan usb to serial adapter (usa-19hs).

I'll put the system through the paces more this week. So far I'm glad I upgraded!

Thanks. I am increasingly optimistic. our neighbor is a big post rental facility. She said they too are waiting for more reports before they buy a bunch of them. but I will relay this to her. Other reporters, please post!
