Hello,
I'm trying to export a QT Ref from MC 2.8 of DVCPro HD material, 1080i 59.94, and the QuickTime file is just white video. It's not an entire sequence, just a few shots that need to go into After Effects. I've seen a few posts about this, but haven't found a solid solution. Any help would be appreciated.
MC 2.8, QuickTime 7.3.1
Export them to AE using DNxHD. Apart from being a square pixel codec, the compression can be very much lower so your effects hold up better. I use DNxHD 185 X and work in AE in 16-bit. You will lose access to some filters in 16-bit mode, although in CS3 it's not as bad as CS2.
jwrl,
Since you seem to do AE work with p2 material, have tried to import the p2 mxf files directly into AE... and then noticed a color difference between the clips that ran through Avid and the clips directly from the p2 media?
No, I haven't tried that. When I'm back on deck on Monday I'll see if I can check it out. I wouldn't be surprised if this was the case though, given that Avid works with YUV colorspace as does Panasonic. AE is RGB based. The effect shouldn't be great though.
