In the Safe Color Limiter, when you set the levels to 18-232, are you setting the Luma parameter in the Composite/Luma Levels group, or are you setting the RGB Gamut values in the RGB Levels group, or both?

Huh? The Hamlet is a peice of hardware, unless there is some aspect of its internal operations that I don't understand.
I've been setting the RGB gamut only. When I encounter illegal video I raise the luma but its still ilegal at 7.5 IRE and I must raise it still higher.
Red,
If possible, I would like to get a small clip that shows the problem. Pleae send me an email (click on robg and hit Options -> Send robg an email) and I will respond with instructions.

Your system specs say you are running MCA 2.7.2. Is this correct?
We tracked this down in our lab and found a problem when using the Safe Color Limiter for RGB Limiting on HD material in MC 3.0. The work-around is to enable the Composite/Luma Levels checkbox. This fixes the problem with the RGB limiter. Note that this is not a problem with SD material.
See the tech note for more info:
We will keep you posted on a SW fix...
Hi Rob.
Is it possible this problem exists with 2.7.2 as well? That's what were running here.
Red Ochre:Is it possible this problem exists with 2.7.2 as well? That's what were running here.
I do not believe this problem exists in 2.7.2.
We looked at the source code here and did not see any changes to Safe Color Limiting from 2.7.2 to 2.8.3.
